How to Apply for North Carolina Auto Tags:

Thirty days after establishing residency, your car must be registered with
the North Carolina Motor Vehicles Department through the local license
plate agency, located at True Value Hardware, Highway 64 By-pass. You
must show proof of ownership and insurance coverage to register your car,
and it must be inspected within 20 days after it is registered.

How to Apply for North Carolina Driver’s License:

You must obtain a North Carolina Driver’s License within 30 days of
establishing residency in the state. Everyone must take written, road signs
and vision tests when applying for a license for the first time. Out-of-state
and first time licensees also need proof of insurance. For information call:

How to Register Your Child in Public School:

Children must be registered in the office of the school they will attend.
School assignment information may be obtained from the Washington
County Board of Education at (252) 793-5171. Documents required are
a birth certificate, immunization records and physical form, and a social
security card.

How to Register to vote:

To vote, a person must be a legal resident of Washington County and
North Carolina for 30 days by the date of the next election. Registration
must be completed at least 16 working days prior to an election. For

Washington County Hospital

Washington County has a 49 bed acute care hospital that provides
both in-patient and out-patient care. Located right on Route 64 in
Plymouth the Hospital’s Mission is to provide Quality Care Close to Home.

   The hospital also employs a full time Internist & a full time General Surgeon

Washington County Hospital also has an excellent referral relationship with Pitt County Memorial Hospital, a tertiary care center only 50 miles away in Greenville. Patients needing tertiary care can be quickly transported by ground or by air depending on condition.
